What do you want?

IMG_0967

What do you want out of life? Do you want to be successful, a star, rich? Do you want to be remembered as someone that invented something or was the most despicable criminal who ever lived? I think the fact that you are remembered at all speaks to your worth. My parents are gone but they are still remembered as good people. I think that’s pretty incredible!

Immortality is a concept that we banter about but do you really want to live forever? I don’t. Too many things would have to change for me to want to be around that long. I would want to be younger, thinner, taller the list could be become quite long. I don’t necessarily want to be remembered for having made a difference rather I want to make the difference. I don’t care if I’m remembered after I’m dead I want to be remembered now when I’m around to enjoy it.

We get so caught up in what we believe our legacy will be that we forget to fulfill that legacy. One day I will be dust, hopefully not snorted up somebody’s nose. Isn’t that what you would like? To make a difference, not to be snorted. We can make a difference right here, right now this very second. Be kind to a stranger. Smile at a child. Perhaps that kindness we’ll inspire that person to be kind to someone else and so the snowball begins. Don’t wait for someone else to start a movement so that you can join in. You can be the vanguard. It doesn’t cost any money, it isn’t painful or even difficult. Smile. Pass it on!

I definitely don’t want to be snorted. Indoors all day today but will be sure to have a smile filled week…my way of trying to pass it on.

I’m smiling, especially after getting 165mm (6 inches old scale) of rain in the last 48 hrs. Some places got over 400mm (16 Inches).
We’ve done the usual thing of going from drought conditions where there is no grass growing anywhere, just a dust bowl….to trying to reach higher ground because everywhere is flooded 🙂
Ah Australia, mad one day, crazy the next 😀 , but I’m smiling and appreciating life to the max. I will make tomorrow a day where I pass it on to all and sundry my friend, start the day with a smile and begin a warmth that should be there every day. That’s what I want, the ability for others to see that they too can be happy regardless of our circumstances 🙂
Great post my friend, may your day also bring a smile within and without 😀

My heart goes out to you for the adversities you have to deal with but I also envy you the magnificent country you call home! I can hear the smile in your words and I’m smiling right back!

I’m also happy to be able to comment again…for some reason I could ‘like’ anyone’s post but every time I tried to comment, I would hit the button and nothing would happen. Bizzare!
So I’m happy to be back on board 🙂

What a terrific post–and something we almost never remember. I loved this: “I don’t care if I’m remembered after I’m dead I want to be remembered now when I’m around to enjoy it.”

Beautiful post! Really, you never know how much a smile or kind word makes someone’s day, and they remember that they were uplifted by your kindness, even if they don’t know your name.

“We get so caught up in what we believe our legacy will be that we forget to fulfill that legacy” is just perfect. For me nothing matters more than the interactions I have from moment to moment.
