The Library

grad cap 1

Surrounded you are

By the songs of the dead

Ideas and notions

And words that they’ve said

The smell of the paper

The touch of the wood

The rustle of pages

Is all that is good

The bright lights of digital

Are not welcome here

The dusty old volumes

May be lost now I fear

Technology rules

Over sheep in the field

We are losing the beauty

Old now must yield

Someday just a memory

The good of our past

Gone now forever

The value miscast.

I love the library. I went to a big box store to buy my husband an e-reader. I asked the girl in the electronics department which one was better for reading and she told me she didn’t read. Wow.
