Puddles are a metaphor for life. (isn’t everything?) You can’t always see what’s below the surface and sometimes you just have to get wet.

I loved tromping through puddles when I was a kid. It drove my mother nuts. Today, I marvel at the reflections they present.

Maybe we are after the innocence of the muddy waters…or their power. Why else do they draw every child’s urge to step, stomp, stride or splash with a maniacal laugh, giggles heard for miles and a glee in their attempts at destruction. Almost a manic change overtakes them with eyes wide, almost blotting out ice creams and candy in its ability to control a well placed kick or stomp in that sweet reflection.
Thankfully I’ve outgrown that phase in my life Pam, renounced those deep feelings of laughter, enjoyment and physical contortions to achieve maximum splashing…of myself and others. Nowadays I just look on…or when no one is looking tap my toe within its edges to relive a time gone by, when castles were built and I could fly to save many damsels in distress.
They have a lot to answer for those puddles. Next thing they’ll probably tell us that those little backwaters were the very things that created life 😀

Oh Mark no! Don’t stop stomping in the puddles. Even sitting in a wheelchair I can feel the joy of running through a puddle. You should never outgrow laughter or joy. Sometimes they can be hard to find but never stop looking!

Actually my control isn’t that good 😀 Of all the things in this world Pam, they would have to be the one thing that has a built in laughter button 😀

And you never know how deep they are – which can be quite a surprise sometimes. 😀

Puddles and fun and laughter go hand in hand. Even though I haven’t splashed or jumped in a puddle for decades, I still remember what a thrill it was.
Maybe because we can’t see below the surface it’s a bit scary, but as soon as you poke your foot in that puddle you know nothing’s gonna hurt you, so let the fun begin!
