Yes. It. Does!! Technology is great, but it shouldn’t be at the expense of human interaction….and I don’t mean by way of a Customer Service robot call. I think we’re getting brainwashed by robots.

I recently was in the waiting room of my opthamologist. The woman seated next to me was on her cell phone going back and forth between calls and texts. Her phone rings…again.

    HELLO?

WHAT? WAIT, IS THIS A ROBOT? LISTEN, I’M IN THE DOCTORS OFFICE. CALL ME BACK AFTER 5 AND I CAN LISTEN TO YOUR SPIEL THEN.

She turns to me and says, “I hate these calls when you have to talk to a robot. They go on and on and you can’t get a word in edgewise.”

I sweartogod Pam…..you can’t make this stuff up. Granted, this woman needs the human touch of a psychiatrist, but it’s a little scary how easily we can get out of touch when we don’t have adequate contact with fellow humans.

The big (technology) news this week was that Wal*Mart is going to open a “cashierless store” in Texas. I sincerely hope this “Experiment” as they call it fails miserably. Stores are already too human-less. I feel like I’m online even when I’m in the building.
