    True story: my parents sent my sisters and me to an all-girls convent school. (No, I don’t know what they were thinking either, but it was California in the seventies. Many, many inexplicable events…) The nuns meant well, but were endearingly clueless. Sister Mary Library wrote an actual book called “Personality Development” and turned it into a (required) class of the same name. It was the only class I actually failed. My mother was delighted, but my father was visibly worried that he’d be stuck with my undeveloped personality forever.
