It worked. It really worked. It is small consolation to those who didn’t make it. But we did. We did what needed to be done and the result? Well, look around. Lakes and streams are clear, wild life is once again thriving and the air . . . the air is clean, almost sweet. The oceans are teaming with healthy, vibrant fish. There is no haze around the sun or the moon. The beaches are pristine. Our planet is healing. Finally, we got something right. All it took was removing us from the equation. We were almost too late. Now we can rest, together.
This part of Sue Vincent’s Daily Echo prompt. You really need to check her blog out: https://scvincent.com/
Amazing, isn’t it? But at some point the masses will be out and about, bringing with them all their old habits. For an intelligent species, we still tend to backpedal a lot.

I know this will never happen but what if . . .

According to “experts” it IS happening in our lakes and rivers and ponds, but not on a grand scale. Healthy fish and plant life are back. But as soon as you add in humans again, we’ll likely lose what we’ve
gained.
What a shame that your story is only a “wishful thinking” tale. I like your version much better than reality!

I rather hope we can get our act together by less drastic measures. But, one day…

In the United States, the president just relaxed environmental standards and told carmakers to go ahead and build a non-energy efficient cars.

A grand vision, Pam. You have identified the enemy and they are us.

Love this Pam, who knows there may be an upside to all this…… but the cost, oh , the cost.

It works. The longer I stay inside, the warmer it is getting. I’ll bet in another couple of months, I could go out in shirtsleeves. That is, if they will let me go out.

I’m sure it would be to the planet’s benefit. Perhaps some of us could hang around to watch it happen.

I wonder if we deserve the planet. We need to do better.

Bittersweet. I hope we manage to find a solution that doesn’t involve us completely disappearing!

It is certainly a most beautiful thing to see Pam…now if we can just learn from it, it is a lesson indeed 😀 ❤️ 🙏🏽 🦋

Children learn their lessons well. Adults?

Yeah, well, we get a bit ingrained as we age, locked into our habits. Pity we weren’t like wine, at least we’d mellow a little 😀

Nature will reclaim what is rightfully hers. But why do some people insist on making it so damned hard?

An interesting take and nicely written piece. I do quite like being part of nature’s equation though.

My sentiments too. I feel that Covid is a way of forcing us to take a step back to realise how destructive our habits are for mother earth Gaia
