Money is not the root of all evil, people are.
Money is not the root of all evil, people are.
No one ever said life was easy, but it is worth the effort!
I plan to misbehave,
And do the things I shouldn’t.
All because of Them,
Who told me that I couldn’t!
For all those years I was my best,
And did as I was asked.
Now’s the time to have some fun,
I have become unmasked.
Lights left on in empty rooms,
A burner far too big.
I even said a word out loud,
My Mom would flip her wig!
Evil deeds will be the norm,
I left my door unlocked.
I’ve changed my path from good to bad,
I fear I’ll be defrocked!
People now will curse my name,
Those who cared will weep.
Misbehaving’s hard to do,
I think it’s back to sleep.
Perhaps another day I’ll try,
To throw away my chains.
Until that time, I’ll rest with ease,
And count my many gains.
In these days of ‘social distancing’, we are learning just what ‘value’ means.

This picture is part of a challenge by Sue Vincent at scvincent.com. Participants must use this image as inspiration. I would like to submit this Micro Story for your edification or perhaps your amusement.
A little background: A circle of standing stones is called a henge. It is a prehistoric monument believed to have been used for ritualistic purposes or perhaps to mark astronomical events. The manner in which they were built is still up for debate. The following is my submission for how.
“Will the accused please stand.”
On shaky knees he stood. His hands grasped the table in front of him. He was afraid to breathe.
“AnokCranor. You have been found guilty of conspiring to commit genocide. You and your fellow conspirators attempted to eradicate the people on a planet in the Milky Way. Fortunately, your attempt was thwarted but the millions of people that died must be avenged. It is our way.”
There was silence in the court.
“The others await your arrival. You will all be taken from this place and incarcerated for a term of no less than 10,000 years. Each of you will be encased within a standing stone. All 20 of the conspirators will then be transported to earth to be erected in to what the indigenous population call a henge. You will bear witness to the people you so desperately tried to destroy. It is fitting that you will reside on the planet that you deemed unfit. May you live for 10,000 years and may they show mercy upon your soul.”
We must never forget how precious a single life truly is.
Be careful what you wish for, it’s probably taxable.
Life is recalculating . . . recalculating . . .
I’m playing in my sandbox,
Would you like to come along?
We could play like we were babes,
Or sing a sweet old song.
I think about those times,
When all was sweet and light.
Perhaps I need a moment,
When everything was right.
We played without a care,
With sand between our toes.
We had so many silly games,
With no one to oppose.
The innocence of youth,
Has long since passed us by.
Not to be recaptured,
No matter how we try.
But we can still retain,
The wonder of our youth.
All it takes is attitude,
And a way to be uncouth.
Remember fondly I beg of you,
The pleasures that we found.
Upon the sand within the box,
With magic all around.
