It is not enough to do what is right, it is also important to be perceived as doing what is right.

Today’s quip is a sticky wicket Pam. I hate to think that someone is absolutely doing the right thing yet is perceived as doing anything but. Maybe that’s why so many people don’t even try…..they just figure everyone will see them doing it wrong.

Working for the police we saw it ALL the time. People watch TV cop show and expect real life to be just like that. Real life is messy and unpredictable. People who die don’t come back on another show. Pet peeve of mine. Sorry for the rant.

I hear the nuance and it has me slightly boggled. And that probably has something to do with the witless knuckle heads driving the fluster cluck down here. With them in charge nothing much makes any sense. And each day between January 20th and now will get stranger and stranger. If they were still doing Twilight Zone they would be throwing those scripts out with the comment ‘No One would believe that !!!!!’ I keep wondering have they hit bottom yet ?

But if one does what is right, but is perceived as not right, were they right?

They were, the perceivers were not. Or if the perceivers were . . . Welcome to my world!!

FYI: The top leader in a school district once told me that it was more important to him that his teachers are perceived as good than be good.

I believe that. Perception is everything, unfortunately.

Perception depends on understanding and understanding requires thinking. Too many people have stopped thinking these days, so some people are doing the right things, but the perception isn’t always there.
