I know in my case I started to slow down. In the fast lane I missed too much. Moving slower means I’ve got a chance to look around.

No question because the younger we are, the more we take for granted. Plus, we elders have a historical perspective.

Yep, that tiny little heart I’ve got took a long, long time to realise it doesn’t just pump blood 😂 🤣

I so agree with you…Bird-song always does it for me, gardens, trees, that morning
cup of coffee and small…piece of cake…Aren’t we lucky! xx

That works for me too, except for coffee. Make it tea and we have a perfect morning.

It’s odd, really, but I’m also a ‘tea-pot’ usually only having coffee at 11 o ‘clock..It’s a sort of ritual with us (“There’s nowt as odd as folk”… it is said!)

Since I have “lots of age”, I now am definitely appreciative of many things I never took the time to notice before.
It’s like when someone tells you to check out a park they think you would enjoy because there’s so much to see. So you drive through it and agree it’s very pretty, but you didn’t find ‘so much to see’.
Later on, you decide to walk through this park, and lo and behold you realize you’re going to have to come back 10 times to even begin to see all that it has to offer.
We go through first half of our lives driving, usually over the speed limit, and the last part of our lives walking…..maybe with a cane! Thank goodness we get a second chance to see what we missed!

That second chance becomes the icing on the cake. There is so much about our lives that we need a second chance to appreciate.

I want to be old enough to appreciate them, but young enough to still do them!

Maybe wisdom comes with slowing down our senses.

That may be. We notice more.

It takes time to take in the details and gain perspective. Sometimes even patient waiting and silence.

I think that is something that is learned more from age than youth.
