I hear a whistling in the trees,
As the branches begin to sway.
As if it were a gentle dance,
The music far away.
Rain begins to pelt the window,
An accompaniment to the trees.
It’s such a gentle, soothing sound,
It puts my mind at ease.
Cymbal’s crash! A crack of light!
The thunder of the drums!
The maelstrom lasts mere seconds!
But fear what next becomes!
And then for just a moment,
The wind decides to pause.
Forbidding clouds begin to part,
A gentle light gives cause.
Breathe a sigh, it’s over now,
The symphony of the storm.
Witness to the grandeur,
When nature does perform.
That captures a summer storm so beautifully, Pam!

Thanks Dale. I actually wrote it as the storm was starting.

I believe it. It feels like it is happening right now. You bring us right in with you.

I would never have thought of a thunder storm as a symphony, but I will now! You never cease to amaze me, my friend. Now, and if I could just get my dog Murphy to see/hear it as beautiful music! 🤗

Murphy can see and hear far beyond what we can. Perhaps he sees the horror story in the making…

It’s Nature’s symphony, and we are its respectful audience. I love this Pam.

Beautifully said, Pam.
The storms we’ve had recently have been grad performances,

Ours may have been short-lived but they were quite spectacular!

This was so beautiful. And I hope that it proves a talisman for us down here; rain’s been hard to come by and a good storm even more so!

I would send it to you if I could. Thank you for your kind words.

Beautiful. I like to spend some time outside on my covered swing on the rare occasions we have rain. It is joyful to me. My dog however, will not join me.

Sadly, our animals priorities seem to shift during a storm.

Did you also do the painting, Pam? I always hear a symphony during a thunderstorm. Lovely!

I did the painting many years ago. I don’t think I’ve ever heard the symphony before but this time I did. I wrote it during the storm.

Beautiful Pam! This is exactly how it is with a thunderstorm, except you forgot the part where the thunder booms so loudly that I jump out of my skin and the cat crawls under the covers. 😉

I was always amazed by how quickly my cats could move at the first crack of the lightning!
