I would go so far as to say they thrive in it – it’s their raison d’ĆŖtre (my mother-in-law was one)

Without negativity there is no progress. Affirmation is easy and comfortable, one doesn’t need to think. Negativity needs thinking. Therefore falsification is the basis of scientific thinking.

You are right. Negativity forces us to overcome. And that is not all bad. But a steady diet of negativity can be demoralizing.

As a scientist and author I was dependant on criticism to develop my idas and my writing. It seems to me, it’s important how people deal with negativity. A lot of people are too lazy to deal with it.
