Tall, Dark and Handsome

Tall and dark,

And oh, so kind.

That my friends,

Is quite a find.

Six foot two,

With eyes of blue.

That I think,

Is what will do.

But oh, so much,

Is needed here.

A gentle nature,

Let’s be clear.

I’d like a man,

Who makes me smile.

A man of conscious,

And little guile.

A thinking man,

A tender soul,

Who cares for others,

That’s my goal

He’ll hold me close,

When I must cry.

He’ll never judge ,

Or ask me why.

Tenacious yes,

And loyal too.

Now, I think,

I like that view!

A messy, silly,

Man of wit.

That I think,

A perfect fit.

Safely kept,

Within my mind.

The perfect man,

Is so defined.

Many, many years ago a group of young women, on a university campus, sat down on a Friday night over several bottles of cheap wine and decided to design the perfect man.  A consensus was quickly reached, the man would need to be tall, dark and handsome. And then the evening segued into something I will not repeat. Even decades later. I took that description and embellished it somewhat. Over the years it evolved as did I.

Haha, I can imagine that conversation! Careful though, this poem feels so much like a magical invocation that you might receive an unexpected visit!

Every girls dream man, I think. I would have loved to be in that group!

On the opposite side, I wonder what a group of young men would come up with for their collective idea of the perfect woman.

This is a fun poem that speaks for so many.

Um, I don’t think I’ll go there Pam…but…I am sorta tall (ish), sorta dark (grey), and the handsome bit is…well…if you like those little goatee thingy’s from the bottom lip, a rakish type model…circa 1960’ish 😂🤣

Ah yes…. that outside packaging is great for drawing us in, but if he doesn’t have a part of all the other criteria in this marvellous poem, he’s outta here. Must make me laugh and not laugh at me. Perfec is as perfect does 😉 Fun stuff!
