The seeds have been planted,
They are starting to grow.
What will develop,
What will they bestow
Will the seeds become flowers,
That mean love and respect?
Or will they be weeds,
Their job to deflect?
Bigotry and avarice,
Can choke out a life.
If allowed to ferment,
There’ll be nothing but strife.
Hatred and ignorance,
Will kill kindness and joy.
We must be vigilant,
Our weapons deploy.
We have the tools,
To protect what is good.
All that it takes,
Is to defend as we should.
Knowledge protects,
And keeps us secure.
All that remains,
Is for us to endure.

Love both your poem and painting. It’s a shame that even in life’s garden there has to be so many weeds. Your last stanza says it all. So let’s dust off our tools and get to work!

As long as we feed the flowers, the good, then we will get stronger. Hate can be beaten.

It’s a shame that there seem to be so many people who feed on hate. Love and beauty are all around us, you really have to seek out hate.

Too many do seek it out and embrace it. That is frightening.

Even a weed has much beauty, we just need to not measure them by our fears. Great poem dear lady, may we find that light within us 😀❤️🙏🏽

Thank you Mark. Weeds do provide a service and we should be cognizant of that.

I appreciate the poem: well said, Pam. It’s so sad that the ‘weeds’ of life try to stifle what’s beautiful and good. Part and parcel of life, but wariness keep us on our toes!

The thing we need to do is plant so many flowers, the weeds can’t get in.
Lovely poem and painting, Miss Talented One!

Beautiful! I’ll join you, Pam, in defending the goodness of humanity – in planting flowers of love and pulling the weeds of hate. Always.
