Known in my youth as ‘Smiler’…grief for my beloved mother wiped it away for a few months and it was the most horrible experience, as if I had turned to stone. I was so relieved when it returned, after I had her locked safe in my my heart. xx

What a poignant tribute to your mother. So glad she rests in a place within you where your memories of her are safe. I had the same experience when my dad died. You are right, it was the most horrible experience.

Hi Ginger, Always good to experience similar experiences but not such sad ones…They do make one more of an empath though! All the best for 2023. Peace, Hope and Love.

Generally and metaphorically speaking it is rather amazing that resistance to smiling is preferred over a quick trip to the euphemism to adjust one’s knickers…

If they only knew it takes less muscles to smile than to frown 🙂
In high school, we all got diplomas for a particular characteristic. Everyone thought I would get it for my athleticism. Nope. I got it for my “Engaging Smile”… I think I’m more proud of that one than any other 🙂

That is something to be incredibly proud of! And a skill you can use throughout your life.

It even hurts to look at them while they attempt it.

Yes, but I am sorry to admit that I often make fun of them afterwards. I know it’s wrong. My bad.

I wonder if some people think a grimace is their version of a smile?

Nice drawing. Smiling doesn’t come easy to me in public because of my social anxiety. Nice drawing btw
