This is so true Pam and so weird. It should be the complete opposite. We humans are a strange breed. For myself, I am much better at writing a note in a card than speaking directly to the person. Maybe it’s ME that’s weird! 🤗

Alrighty then, we weirdos win by a landslide….this includes you and Dan and Mark and Karla and Frank. Perhaps we will rule the day after all!🥴

I often say what I need to say in my poetry and in my short stories.

We should all be so weird, Ginger.

It’s simple, Ginger. When we write a note, we are not there for the reaction so we cannot be disappointed if it’s not the one we would like 🙂

Dale, you are absolutely right! Didja hear that bang? That’s another nail getting hit smack on the head!

Yanno… I know first-hand about the power of the written word. My sister once wrote me a letter because I had hurt her with my actions. I hadn’t realised it at the time. When you get a letter, you can’t automatically interject like you would if the person was speaking to you.

Yes indeed kind lady…so I just settle for the truth. The trust of its love is built on it ❤️

Those who are closest to us are also less inclined to hold back. We are often meaner to family than to strangers; having given ourselves the right (which is so wrong) to not hold back.

I was brought up hearing, “If you don’t have something nice to say, don’t say anything at all.” Unfortunately that’s easier said than done, especially if you don’t have your filter in place!

Funny how that quote applies to most people OUTSIDE of the family… they should add: ESPECIALLY to your loved ones 😉

And yet we often speak of the most intimate things with strangers on an airplane or in a waiting room.

It is much easier to be authentic with strangers so often due to family relationships that have taken many years to solidify. Their perceptions of you get in the way of right communication. Expectations somethings squelch possibility and growth. You may be saying one thing yet through their own filter they are hearing something from out of the past. I found that also true when moving through my school years with the same group of kids. I had an excitement for a new year and changes but somehow we ended up in the same clique ruts and social situations. Expectation and familiarity are detrimental to personal growth. I also express myself through poetry, Pam.

You are so right! I find this blog is perhaps my most personal way of expressing myself. And I feel safe doing so. Especially with such great readers and writers around me.

Same her Pam. I am far more comfortable with the written, rather then the spoken, word.
