Oops…

At the beginning of April, I wrote a post about a rabbit hole I had fallen into. I had found an author who is new to me and whose work I was thoroughly enjoying. Well, I’m here to tell you that I’m still stuck. I’m reading book 28 and I’m doing my best to take a little longer to read each book. Because you see everything else has stopped. This is not good.

My muse seems to have taken a vacation and I’m pretty sure she packed a bag, a big one. I haven’t written a new poem or a new short story in months. I used to write a new poem every week, I did that for years. For a while it was two poems a week. Now I have the desire but not the thoughts. Fortunately, I have a cache to draw upon so I should never be without something. I have over 50 short stories, well over 300 poems and 10 years of posts to choose from so you will not do without. But I would be remiss if I didn’t mention that I’m having a wee bit of difficulty getting you anything really new. Sorry.

It’s funny actually. I’m sitting here looking at this blank screen when usually my mind doesn’t stop working. I often relate it to a hamster on a wheel. It’s annoying but right at this very moment I miss it. That’s not always the way. My apartment is so quiet and yet while I crave silence, I’m not enjoying it in my brain. I think I have seven books left to finish. I wonder if my muse will come back then. I hope so.

Your muse didn’t elope with a rabbit it found down that hole…did it? Then again…look at that hamsters eyes, that shock on its face…its sold your muse to a book store in Calgary…I can see it. And used the money to buy books 35 to 97 🤣

Our muses aren’t always amusing, are they? Since your brain runs non-stop at high speed, your muse probably needed a well-deserved vacation off that hamster wheel. ‘Course, it would have been nice if she had let you know she was taking some time off!

Pam, you can repeat posts from now until the cows come home, I never tire of re-reading any of your delightful posts. Your muse will return when she’s good and ready.

Hmmmm, maybe your muse noticed a screw loose in your overworked brain and figured you needed some time off too!! 🤗

Oh Pam , don’t be so hard on your self…Your over-worked brain needs a holiday. THAT IS ALL…If I was your muse, I’d have had my bags packed last week! The poor soul is exhausted. She’ll be back on your door-step as soon as she’s had a few massages, sunshine and a few tequilas. Trust me. Hugs xx

Hmm. Why is my take always the different one? I’d say this is a good time to find a new passion. Why does the idea of doing exactly what you have been doing for 10 years feel instinctively like that’s the thing you should be clamoring to get back to, when you have an entire new canvas/world/ideas from which to choose? Do something new. Maybe the rabbit hole is your subconscious self trying to push you into something different! Tunnel that hole to someplace exciting! Have fun. See you on the other side!

Different keeps us on our toes. It’s a good thing. There may be changes but I like what I am doing. As long as I still enjoy it, I will continue to do it. I think I just need to rest.

Hope your muse comes back. Mine seems to have left me as well. Did not post yesterday as I usually do on Sundays and doubt that I will post today.

Looks like we both have some work/soul searching to do about our writing path.

    Have a great day.

All your stuff is new to me so no worries about me. Enjoy Harlan Cobin sans guilt. We all need a break sometime. Read to your heart’s content. I am sure that your muse is just out in the garden reading. She’ll be back – I know it. And really – don’t worry.
